Objective
|
|
My passion is using modern technology to solve business problems and create business opportunities.
I love to see my work make a difference (not necessarily change the world, but make someone's day a little bit easier or more fulfilling).
I am seeking a leadership position in which
my skills in hands-on motivation and guidance of technologists, researchers, and developers will produce cutting-edge yet practical results. My
technical skills combined with my business experience and focus make me a strong contributor on a management team.

SVP Engineering
|
Rightside 2014-Present
|
|
-
I run a distributed (currently five states) engineering team at Rightside. In addition to running the world's second-largest registrar platform, we are a significant player in the new top-level domains (TLDs) (e.g. .news, .reviews, .democrat, .ninja, etc) currently being made available. Our registry platform hosts many of these new TLDs (over 200, more than any other platform) and our registrar platform offers registrations of nearly all of them.
-
My team is responsible for corporate services (e.g. business intelligence), shared services (e.g. domain recommendations and lead generation), and aftermarket products (e.g. domain monetization). I am also heavily involved in intellectual property protection (including patent development), overall engineering leadership, and frequently serve as a consultant and advisor for executive-level business development efforts.

Demand Media 2007-2014
|
|
-
I ran several distributed engineering groups focusing on building highly scalable content delivery, content merchandising, SEO, and revenue optimization platforms that support our media properties. Our mission was to add significant value by building systems that apply algorithmic, data-driven approaches to optimize the hundreds of millions of visits a day to the sites offering our multi-million item content library. I worked closely with virtually every business unit in the company to ensure that my teams not only supported their needs but also proactively drove projects to enhance their businesses.
-
Helped build the business from early-on through IPO and beyond. Moved to Rightside when we spun it off in August of 2014.
